Latest Updates
- Released 0.8 to rave reviews – our best release yet
- 1.4 million downloads in two weeks
- More bugfixing going on now in parallel
Where We’ve Come
- 2003 a year of accelerated awareness and adoption, especially among specific communities.
- No Mozilla product has caused this much commotion this quickly.
- Naming dispute recently resolved with
0.8 release.
Where We’re Going…
- 1.0 targeted at Summer, probably July
- 0.9 “Feature Complete” release scheduled for April, but may slip due to the major features that need to be complete before it can ship.
- Parallel bug fixing may allow us to compress the bugfixing timetable on the tail end of the schedule.
- 1.0 beta and then 1.0
…Where We’re Going
- 1.0 will release on Windows and Linux, and a 1.0 alpha will be released for MacOS X.
- MacOS X will then have a separate beta and final release lagging by 4-6 weeks so that MacOS X specific issues can be targeted.
What’s Coming…
- New Extension System
- Automated Update when Firefox is upgraded, version compatibility checking
- New Extensions Site
- Software Update
The Future
- Beginning to think about what comes next
- This will pick up after feature hell ends after 0.9
- We will look at better feature “integration,” better bookmarks, history, tabbed browsing, and the “next big thing.”

- Seamless Profile Data Migration
- Remove the barriers of entry especially for Windows IE users – import not only Favorites but settings, cookies, passwords, form data, etc.
- Also import from Opera, Seamonkey,
4.x, Safari, MacIE, Camino,
OmniWeb etc.

- Stability and Polish, especially for Options, Bookmarks, and general Navigation
