Hello, for those of you who don't know me, my name is Chris Ilias. I work on the Firefox Support team that manages support.mozilla.com.
First off, I want to thank you for all the work that you do on Firefox Support. Mozilla truly is a worldwide community, and the work you do is so important to making users happy.
I wanted to talk to you about the upcoming EU browser ballot. We have been talking with the marketing team and others involved in the browser ballot about the impact of it on the number of Firefox users in Europe, and importance of having something ready for those new users.
70% of the impacted users are estimated to come from a handful of countries. We think 35 million users in Germany alone will be affected.
We have been focusing on improving a small set of articles that new users are likely to read. We want to do what we can to make sure those articles are translated for most Europeans.
Those articles are:
* https://support.mozilla.com/kb/How+to+set+the+home+page?bl=n
* https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Importing+f…t+Explorer?bl=n
* https://support.mozilla.com/kb/How+to+make…lt+browser?bl=n
* https://support.mozilla.com/kb/For+Interne…orer+Users?bl=n
* https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Installing+…ash+plugin?bl=n
The work on those articles is done, and now it is just a matter of making sure European locales make the same changes to their translations of those articles. If you have any questions about how to do that, you can ask myself or Lendo. We expect the browser ballot to start reaching users in mid-March. Thank you for reading!
